Origin Story
Two girls. One paycheck. A guitar at 2AM.
Joel Boel grew up in Trion, Georgia — the kind of town where the mill whistle sets the clock and leaving doesn't mean you escaped.
He ran hard before Tammy. Bars, fights, the kind of trouble that doesn't make for good stories later. No education. No plan. Nothing that looked like a future.
Then he met her. She didn't fix him — she just made him want to fix himself. They got married. Had two girls. Jenny. Opal.
Cancer took Tammy a few years back. It doesn't care how much you've changed or how hard you're trying.
The girls live with Tammy's parents now, back in Georgia. Joel moved out to the Permian Basin because the oil fields pay, and paying is what he can do. Every check goes home. Every single one.
He's got no degree, no prospects, nothing but twelve-hour tower shifts and whatever comes out of him when he picks up a guitar in a motel room at 2 AM. The labor keeps Jenny and Opal fed. The songs keep him from forgetting why that matters.
